On August 27th, the traditional Italian UISP Championships for 2017 took place in Rivoli Veronese. The event, superbly organized by ASD Rivoli Racing and Treerremodellismo, saw 36 drivers gathering at the outdoor asphalt track located on the hills surrounding Verona to contend the national UISP title in three different classes: F1, Pan Car 1/10 Modified and, for the first time ever, GT12.
In GT12, Mattia Dall'Oca put on an impressive performance, locking the TQ spot during the morning's qualifying rounds in which he was the only driver able to deliver a 25-lap run in the 6 minute round. During the afternoon finals, Mattia kept the ball rolling in all three finals in order to secure the win ahead of Roberto Rampini (Treerremodellismo) and Alessandro Giubbilei (Jokerteam Bolzano).
With the upcoming Italian GT12 Series to be held in 2017/2018, the presence of the GT12 class at an official event like the Italian UISP Championship is a confirmation that the benefits of this class are finally making inroad among drivers in Italy.
