A fantastic entry of 127 drivers attended the first round of the 2011 Schumacher BTCC championship at the awesome Moto Arena indoor tarmac track. The biggest race ever at the venue saw some fantastic racing.
In modified touring Andy Moore took TQ with his Hot Bodies from Chris Grainger’s Schumacher Mi4CX. After a closely fought battle in the first A final they touched and allowed Stefan Chodzynski’s X-Ray into the lead, only for Stefan’s car to slow coming out of the final corner allowing Chris Grainger to take the win. In the second final Andy Moore led from start to finish. Chris Grainger was looking for a way past until a mistake dropped him back which allowed Stefan to take 2nd overall and Jonny Aird 3rd.
In the 10.5 Pro Stock class James Hart took a convincing TQ with his Mi4CX and then a comfortable win in the first A final. In the second final a first corner crash broke a James’ car which allowed Richard King to come through to take the win. However with 2 2nd places young Kieran Clift drove a superb race to take the overall win for team Schumacher. A fine performance for the up and coming driver with his Mi4CX.
In 13.5 stock class Zak Finlay won with his Hot Bodies car from Nigel Shaw in 2nd and Simon Chambers in 3rd.
