The young Danish Schumacher drivers again demonstrated strong results at Round 4 and 5 in Danish Off-Road Nationals.
Round 4 was held in Odense on a beautiful Astro turf track with some very challenging jump sections. Almost symptomatic for this season, race conditions changed during the day due to rain. It started out with sunshine, a few clouds and a dry high grip track. After qualification a few showers changed driving conditions considerably going from traction roll issues to a very slippery surface.
In the Stock class 14 year old Christian Lassen again was very fast and qualified second in the round by round qualification. Mains were held in the wet and Christian with his old Schumacher CATs was superior. The car was for some reason very fast in the slippery conditions and he won all three finals.
In the 2WD class another youngster headed for great results, Jesper Rasmussen made his first ever Pole Positions in the 2WD class in a very tough field with many past National Champions. During qualifying Jesper set some very fast times fully utilizing the potential of his Thunder Powered Cougar SV2. In the finals things didn’t go in Jespers direction. He struggled some in the wet condition but managed to hold on to the third place overall. 2WD winner Kim Nielsen said after the race if the track had stayed dry, they would only have seen the back end of Jespers car.
In 4WD Jesper Rasmussen again managed to qualify for the Pole Position and demonstrated how very strong he is on his home ground being the only driver to make 14 laps. Team mate 13 year old Victor Christensen qualified 4th and again a strong result for the 4WD class rookie. In the finals Victor holds his 4th place and Jesper took the overall win by winning all three finals. A good day for the young Schumacher drivers.
Round 5 was held in Hobro, a very challenging, small, bumpy and twisted track covered with mixed type of carpets for variation in grip and a monster jump that threatened to send several cars into orbit. As something completely new for the season, the weather stayed dry during the entire race. All drivers could stay on Schumacher Mini Pins, everybody had a good race.
In the Stock Class Christian Lassen was the man to beat but that didn’t happen and he was able to set the fastest times in all rounds of qualification. As we have seen before, strong performance in finals with three wins and the overall win was in the basket. The old Cat still going strong!
Christian is now leading the Championship in the Stock class with two rounds to go.
In 2WD, Jesper Rasmussen was again facing the older and much more experienced drivers. Things worked well and Jesper had a good pace with his Cougar SV2, but a few mistakes and a broken C-hub send him down to 5th spot on the grid in the A-final. Jesper was happy to stay in A-final as the qualifying wasn´t exactly going his way.
In the finals Jesper moved up to 4th position overall with a 3rd place in round 2 and a 2nd place in round 3
Jesper has moved up to 3rd place in the Championship with 2 rounds to go.
In 4WD, we saw Victor Christensen and Jesper Rasmussen doing very well , Jesper again managed to take Pole Position, despite 2011 4WD Champion was back in the field after a short break. He was not able to keep up the pace and started from 4th position on the grid. Victor was much closer this time to the frontrunners and started from 5th position.
In the finals Jesper was battling a lot with the Tamiya driver Jan Larsen, but Jesper kept his cool and won final 1 and 3 and Victor Christensen managed to keep his 5th place with a 4th place in 1st of the A-final as the best result.
Jesper is leading the 4WD championship and Victor is in 6th position Again a great day for the young Schumacher drivers
