Dynamix raceway in Gateshead played host to Round 1 of the BRCA North East regional series. The track was dry, high traction, with a flowing layout, smooth straight and sweeper, and a bumpy infield with two table tops.
In qualifying, the Schumacher CAT K1 of Chris Pattinson set the TQ pace, with a perfect (1) score in all four rounds of qualifying. Jeff Steele, also driving the Schumacher K1 set the only sub 23 second lap times in three of the four rounds, but couldn’t find the consistency for the full five minutes.
In the final, Chris started from pole to take the A final win without a real challenge. Jeff started 4th, to come through to take 2nd place with his K1 in a very clean race with 3rd place Paul Hindson.
Comments on the A final from Paul Jones appeared fitting:
Congrats to Chris Pattinson for taking the A final win
he really did make it look easy. not taking anything away from the other drivers in the final everyone was on form, Paul Hindson and Jeff Steele had a good battle betweeen them with Andy Pearson in the mix there as well
Chris P was flying with his K1 though and it really did look like it took absolutely no effort at all
All of this was in the absence of local superstar Greg Williams, however his sister Natalie, put in a sterling performance to qualify 1st in the B final, and if it weren’t for a couple of small errors, could’ve held on for a B final win.
