Schumacher Team driver Rob Betts from the USA went to the Back to School Blast at Island Raceway last weekend, he had a great event and sent us this race report:
I ran my Schumacher CAT K1 at the race, and had also just finished building my Cougar SV2. I ran the Modified class in both classes. The race had about 100 entries with drivers from all different companies. The track was Island Raceway and Hobby in NY. It's surface is high bite wet clay. We ran total slicks, pulling wheelies on command. In 4WD I was able to TQ the event and then follow it up with a win, actually lapping the entire field!
In 2wd Modified I again was able to capture the TQ. In the A Main it was a good battle with about 3 other drivers. I was finally able to work up a lead of about 4 seconds, then I came over a jump, the car landed and briefly turned off on its own for no apparent reason. It came back on a few seconds later with me dropping to third in the race with a minute to go. I was able to fight back up to 2nd place and then ran out of time. I finished just 1 second behind the winner settling for a 2nd place. All in all the cars were on point and so easy to drive which says a lot because the grip is so high, most other cars were always on edge.
Congratulations to Rob from all at Schumacher Racing on a fantastic result.
