This weekend was Rd 2 of the Belgium Winter Trophy Series held at the superb indoor facility, Black Country Arena in Charleroi, host of an EOS round in the opening season. Schumacher driver Tom Cockerill made the trip over for the race, with open practice held on the Saturday and the race Sunday, it was a good opportunity to get some decent track time without the weather interfering. The track has recently undergone a remodel with a crossover and diagonal straight being the newer features. The track had less traction than normal, requiring different setups to what has previously been used.
Tom Cockerill put in a dominant display in 2wd with the recently released Schumacher KF, taking all 3 qualifying rounds and the first 2 A final’s to secure the top honours. He was followed home in the final by Nicolas Risser in 2nd and Jerome Sartel in 3rd.
4wd was a little more competitive with Tom being able to put in the fast laps, but didn’t have the 5 minute consistency throughout qualifying. This left him to line up third, with Sartel 2nd and Sebastien Wartelle on pole. In the finals Tom managed to hook it up for the full 5 minutes, coming through to take legs 2 & 3 for the overall win.
