The weekend of the 16th March 2014 was the final round of this seasons very successful Worksop Series.
Championship leader Neil Cragg was still away, this time on his Honeymoon, however from looking at the results in the Championship Neil had already done enough at previous rounds to confirm both titles.
Many people enjoyed the event and said what a fantastic series this has been once again. The racing was great throughout the day and there was a brilliant battle between Craig Collinson and Richard Lowe at the sharp end in both classes, which would run all day even into the finals.
In the 2wd class Eugene Galley was testing out the new MIP Puck system in his Schumacher Cougar SV2 to great effect, managing to finish a great 3rd place overall. These will be available through Schumacher Racing and Dealers very soon along with some more goodies from MIP - keep a look out!
After all of the action the A Final 2wd result was:
1 Craig Collinson Durango
2 Greg Williams Associated
3 Eugene Galley Schumacher
4 Jack Neal Schumacher
5 Iain Mellish Xray
6 Ben Jemison Associated
7 Mitchell Fiddling Yokomo
8 Chris Pattinson Schumacher
9 James Helliwell Schumacher
10 Richard Lowe Associated
The 4wd A Final result was:
1 Craig Collinson Durango
2 Ben Jemison Associated
3 Jack Neal Schumacher
4 Richard Lowe Associated
5 James Helliwell Schumacher
6 Steven Pierce Schumacher
7 Rob Fox Schumacher
8 Greg Williams Associated
9 Mark Smith Yokomo
10 Richard Coates Durango
After all of the racing action, all the points were added up and the overall Championship was finalised. This can be seen by following the results link below.
Both 2wd and 4wd Championships were taken by Neil Cragg from Team Associated, some awesome dominating driving from Neil in many rounds.
Due to Neil being away as mentioned above, it was down to Neil's young pretender to collect his Championship winning trophies, so up stepped the one and only Ben Jemison to do so, even trying to mirror the famous Cragg pose! Very good on the pose Ben, just not quite there with the driving skill as yet :-P
Some very nice trophies were awarded to the overall top 10 in both classes, well done to you all.
To conclude the series there was a huge raffle that was done courtesy of the following:
Worksop Radio Car Club
Number 5 RC
As you can see here a couple of very lucky winners walking away with a brand new Cougar KF kit each, well done to all who won prizes in the raffle.
A huge thankyou to all of the generous racers, who donated some money for the charity collection that James Helliwell had organised for a great cause, Cancer Research UK. Below you can see the Worksop crew with the cheque for £320 just before it gets sent off to the charity. This collection was carried out for the final few rounds of the series, so we shall look into doing this kind of thing again next year.
Well that concludes another very successful Series, massive thanks to all of the team from the Worksop Radio Car Club for putting on such a great race Series once again, to all the above for the raffle prizes, and to all you guys that came and raced in the events, hope you all enjoyed it and we look forward to welcoming you back when the Series kicks off again in October 2014.
Look out for all of the information and entry form later in the year.
