The first round of the BRCA Touring Car Nationals took place this last weekend at West London Racing Centre. Mixed conditions met the drivers providing tricky wet and dry running throughout the weekend.
After 5 rounds of qualifying the Schumacher drivers Chris Grainger and Colin Price took 2nd and 3rd positions on the grid joined by Matt White in 7th with their Mi5's. Elliott Harper took the TQ spot in modified.
The finals were fast and frenetic Elliott Harper won the first two legs in front of Chris Grainger with Colin Price driving superbly to hold off Olly Jefferies in leg 2. A mechanical breakdown for Elliott's Durango in leg 3 combined with a coming together for Chris and Olly putting Chris out, allowed Colin to complete the leg victory. This was enough to net him second overall, pipping team mate Chris on the tie break rule.
In the Pro Stock Class Lee Price was having a good weekend with his Mi5 lining up 3rd on the grid behind current champ Zak Finlay and Tony Broad. The Mi5's of Chris Gunter and Mark Wallace also showing strongly in 5th and 6th.
The finals saw Lee maintain his position to take a well deserved podium with the top 5 qualifying drivers remaining in the top 5 final positions. Mark Wallace took 8th overall.
Congratulations to the team on a great performance!
The next round moves on to Halifax in a few weeks’ time.
