Round 13 and 14 of the SICC (round 3 BRCA South GT12 Regional Championship) where held this weekend gone at Chippenham. In GT12 Marcus Askell just needed 2 wins to take the SICC title and Regional title before the last rounds at Yeovil club next weekend.
The racers were greeted by a quick track that would make for interesting racing. In round 1 Marcus stamped his authority from the get go by taking the first TQ in 26 laps 304.60, a lap clear of other schumacher drivers, Chris Baldwin in 2nd and Mark Giaquinto in 3rd.
Round 2 followed much the same with Marcus taking TQ in 27 laps 310.86, Mark a lap behind in 2nd, Chris in 3rd, Lesro Models driver Stuart Parnell improved to take 4th and team mate John Pryor in 5th.
Round 3 saw a strong charge by Stuart but a dominate Marcus took TQ ahead of Stuart, Chris in 3rd, Mark in 4th and Mardave driver Jason Dockree finishing ahead of John. So the grid for the finals were Marcus on Pole, Mark in 2nd, Chris in 3rd, Stuart in 4th and John in 5th ahead of Jason in 6th
Meanwhile in Boosted Touring Chris Gunter (Schumacher) took overall TQ ahead of Kai Grainger, Luke Bennetts (Schumacher), Mark Giaquinto (Schumacher) and John Pape.
The 1st GT final saw a bit of a scrappy start with Marcus edging away from Mark and Stuart who had made it upto 3nd in the 1st corner melee, Mark Parnell from 7th had weaved his Supastox into 4th. A mistake by Mark let Stuart through on lap 2, but a strong challenge on one of the hairpins on lap 3 meant Mark made it through into 2nd to try to chase Marcus down. Meanwhile further back some strong challenges meant the order was changing regularly. Marcus took the win from Mark in 2nd and Stuart in 3rd.
In Boosted Touring a close first race meant the top 3 were spread by less than half a second at the end, with Kai taking the win ahead of Schuacher MI5 EVO drivers Luke and Chris.
The 2nd final saw a much cleaner affair with Marcus taking a pole to flag win from Chris in 2nd and Stuart in 3rd.
In Boosted Touring Chris Gunter took the win from fellow Schumacher driver Mark in 2nd and Kai in 3rd.
So Marcus sealed up the championship with 2 rounds to spare, as he is away at a 12th Meeting for Yeovil's round 2nd place is still up for grabs between Lesro Drivers Stuart Parnell and John Pryor meaning an all Supastox top 3.
