Lindegaard is Danish Champion  02/04/2015

Nicolai Lindegaard secure DRCMU Rd5 and the DRCMU title win with Mi5evo

The fifth and final round of the DRCMU series were held in “Djurs country”, also known as the nose of Denmark. The race were to crown two champions, one in the Super Stock division and one in the modified division. The Championship is Denmark’s biggest and most prestigious touring car series, with 136 contenders this season!

Saturday:
Packed and all set for the Championship decider, we had a four-hour drive a head of us from Allerød, so we took off early at 7.00am. It were important to get there in time to get some free practice runs, before the race started at 3pm.
The first few batteries were a bit tricky. The layout were tight, and low grip conditions forced some small mistakes, but after a few setup adjustments, the car got just as good as always. I had the pace from there and won both controlled practice and the first two qualifying out of five.

Sunday:
I noticed on this trip, that sleeping in a dressing room is a bad idea. After a night with no more than four hours sleep, I woke up at 6.30am and decided to get up and replace all my wheel-bearings. I was the first one up, and had to sit alone in the dark hall for an hour or so, but I did not mind. Somehow, it helped me to focus on the task - To Bring home the title.
All morning I had in mind, that just getting one more TQ run I could secure the pole position, before the last two qualifications. I did not manage to execute the Q3, and made I mistake to see myself do a fourth in the round. Two qualifications remaining I had to prove to myself that I am able to finish off tiebreaks. I did prove that by winning Q4 and Q5 and take the TQ!

I am a better racer than qualifier, and therefore I knew I had a big advantage of starting from the front. The first final were one of my biggest defensive performances. I started good, and had gap down to Steven, but as he did some mistakes, Søren got past him. I lacked power all weekend, therefore Søren began to catch up as he had a lot of it. That meant four minutes of defensive driving, but he never got past, and I could secure the first final.
In the second leg, I just pulled away from the pack, and showed them which car they should drive from the start of next season!

That meant I could secure the second final, win the event, and be crowned as Danish Touring Car Champion 2014/15 in the Super Stock division!

To sum up the season I am very proud, that my performance have increased so drastically. I am becoming a better driver, and I really look forward to see if I can continue to improve my personal and mechanical skills over summer. Now it is time for tarmac!

Thank you, Schumacher!
