At the recent BRCA GT12 National at MB models it was brought to our attention that some of the Schumacher ATOM cars were failing the 165mm maximum width rule in scrutineering.
The Schumacher ATOM, measured across the rear wheels is 164.6-164.8mm wide, depending on tolerances, with 0.1mm of end float on the rear axle.
The wheels measure 25.8mm.
On the first production of tyres excess glue was left on the side of the wheels during the tyre manufacturing process. This caused preglued wheels to measure over the 26mm maximum limit and some cars measured over 165mm. Several drivers had to sand the excess glue from the wheels to pass scrutineering at the GT12 national.
We have tightened our quality control procedures and all Contact GT12 pre-mounted foam tyres now measure under 26mm as supplied from the factory.
We apologise for the inconvenience that this has caused.
