The Schumacher GP took place this past weekend, once again attracting a fantastic entry of over 80 drivers. Great to see this kind of entry in the GT12 class.
A nice flowing track with some tight corners was the design, many drivers commented what a great track lay out it was, as always a huge thank you to the Tamworth crew, an awesome job!
The race format was 6 minute qualifying runs over 4 rounds, this was done on round by round qualifying. Then there was 3 leg finals for everyone, so lots of racing and track time!
In qualifying it was very close at the top all day, Andy Murray took rounds 1 and 2 and then Adam Catchpole took rounds 3 and 4 in a slightly quicker time, so he would line up on pole for leg 1.
As in previous years, a different format was used for the finals grid. They would line up in qualifying order for leg 1. Then a reverse grid for leg 2 and then your overall current position for leg 3.
This made for some quite interesting racing and meant for leg 2, the very fast drivers had to negotiate their way through from the back.
After all of the racing action in all 3 legs, the A Final result was:
1 Adam Catchpole
2 Andy Murray - Schumacher
3 Kieran Manders
4 Gavin Clinch
5 Gavin Stephenson
6 Louis Parker - Schumacher
7 David Gale - Schumacher
8 Tom Hampson
9 Kellyann Bligh
10 Craig Nutting
Once the racing had finished the trophy presentation took place, then followed by the famous Schumacher raffle.
There was at least one raffle prize available to someone in each final, congratulations to all of the lucky winners.
A big thank you has to go to all of the racers who competed in the event, lots of smiles and great fun had by many people.
As already stated a huge thanks to the Tamworth crew for putting on a great event at a brilliant venue, also a big thanks to Muzzy and Alistair Hart for running race control and making sure things ran like clockwork.
