Team go well at Rug Racers  18/01/2017

The popular Schumacher sponsored series Rug Racers held R4 this weekend.  Another busy event with 80 racers in attendance, it was going to be another fantastic meeting filled with competitive racing.

Qualifying was a close affair after a 4 round FTQ type qualification. Ashley Wiffen would take second place on the grid, to Jon seals, with his Mi6 in the 13.5 Open class.  Schumacher Engineer Aaron rose would line up as car 3 just 2 seconds off pole position, in the super competitive 17.5t Blinky Touring car class.  Andy Murray would claim the pole position in GT12 for Schumacher Atom.

Racers were treated to a fantastic display of prices in a raffle before the finals, with generous prizes from many brands that sponsor this event.

Young Schumacher driver Daniel Robins was in attendance practising hard as ever, continuing his progress and almost claiming the B final victory.  Ever in attendance at the big events, he will certainly be one to watch in the near future!

The 2 leg finals would see a mighty race between Jon Seals and Ashley Wiffen in the 13.5 Open TC class.  Both finals won by Jon by under 1 second.  Fantastic driving from both as the watch crowd were gripped for the enter 10 minutes of racing.

In the 17.5 class a masterclass of driving from Colin Jackson would see a fantastic double win for him.

GT12 showed a light to flag victory for the ATOM of Andy Murray in both legs; his car looked both fast and easy to drive.  Behind would see a fantastic race between Tim Hancock and Ben Vincent for Schumacher.  Ben, starting 3rd on the grid for the finals would manage to make his way past Tim after a close race was held for most of the races.  Well done guys.

Rug Racers hosts R5 of their popular series on the 5th February, one week before the GT12 worlds, this is certainly going to be a highly competitive race, on the same type of carpet!
