The first Belgian/Dutch National of the season took place this past weekend at the BPT track in Soignies, with both countries as usual combining for the National championship.
This would also be the first national with his new rides for recent Schumacher signing Wesley Van Helmond and he started well by taking TQ using the Cougar KC followed by Thibault Jacqueloot (ASSO) and fellow Schumacher driver Brent Ausloos in third.
After some close racing, Wesley took the win by taking victory in the first two legs.
1 Wesley van Helmond -Schumacher
2 Thibault Jacqueloot -asso
3 Bruno Heremans -asso
Brent just missed out on the podium claiming fourth, and fellow Schumacher driver Jean-Michel Taijmans would take 8th postion.
A strong showing from the team in 2wd.
On to 4wd, and the team were looking strong in qualifying with Brent taking TQ, Erik Michiels lining up 2nd and Wesley in 3rd.
Both Brent and Wesley were challenging for the win, in the end, Brent would take the victory with Wesley a close second.
1 Brent Ausloos -Schumacher
2 Wesley van Helmond -Schumacher
3 Erik Michiels -xray
Unlucky to just miss out on the A final, were Jean-Michel Taijmans and wesley’s brother Dominique, who would end up 1st & 2nd in the B final.
Congratulations to the Belgian/Dutch team on some fantastic results.
