Lat weekend saw the Schumacher team head for Aldershot for Round 3 of the BRCA Championships. Schumacher ace Chris Grainger was looking to cement a good result and this meeting was really going to be key to defending his British crown.
Early on in proceedings was looking difficult for Chris as interference was hampering his performances. Allied to that, Olly Jefferies and Elliot Harper were looking on top form to do some damage, Olly with a new car and Elliot on a massive high after his excellent worlds result.
Chris sorted his interference finally on sunday morning managing to take 1st in round 4 which would ensure 3rd place on the grid behind Olly and Elliot.
Overall in the mod class Chris Kerswell, Matt White and Colin Price were strong, lining up 5th, 6th and 9th in the A main, showing the Mi4LP to be the most populated car in the A final with 4.
In the super competitive Pro Stock class local driver Ben Cane was looking very strong for a good result, lining up 2nd on the grid behind last years champion Jon Bowden. James Hart, Matt Quinlisk and Edward Crump also made the main with good performances.
The finals were fast and frenetic, with some pretty average driving. However Chris showed all his experience to pull off 2 victories in the final 2 legs, driving through all the carnage in front of him. The race really showed how tyre management and controlled driving can be a massive benefit when the ultimate pace may not be there on the day. Chris Kerswell also showed great skill to get through for 3rd overall, tied on points for 2nd with Colin Price 6th and Matt White 7th giving the team an excellent set of results.
The Pro Stock A finals were super close and after three tough legs Jon Bowden and Ben Cane were tied on 3 points each. This meant that Jon took the victory as he had qualified ahead of Ben. It has to be said that Ben does not normally compete at nationals so had to quality from Heat 1 so his result makes it even more impressive. James Hart ended up 5th, Matt Quinlisk 6th and Edward Crump 7th.
Chris is now in the strongest position to retake his championship having 2 wins and a second with 2 meetings to go.
The team move on to Halifax at the end of the month for the next round, with the European Championships in between.
